Has anybody done the OBDR? We are planning a trip next summer and need to get some information on GPS tracks and gas stops. Any info would be appreciated.

We are going in late summer. Trying to get all the ultralight camping gear together right now. I'm also waiting for a bigger tank to give me range.

You must be waiting for the new Aqualine Safari tank?

Has anybody looked at one of these? Might not be a bad idea for a once or twice a year trip. I am thinking about getting one, though my KLR has longer legs then I can sit on one stretch.

Acouple of us rode the last section a year ago. We ran it backward, started in walla walla, got gas again at tolgate, then starkey, then granite. I'm thinking that was about 200 miles total. Then hit the paved backroads coming home, got gas at ukiah then pendelton. One bike died at pendelton [197? yamaha dt 250] and got trucked home. I rode the freeway back. [950 adventure]. We did have a jeep following us with the gear and groceries and beer. We spent the first night camped out near lehman hot springs and the second night at olive lake, was home on the third nite.
Check the OBCDR website for maps and prolly now you can buy the gps route on a disc.
It was an epic adventure, except for trying to keep mileage co-ordinated with the map. A gps guided trip would make it a heck of a lot easier.
I'll do it again when Stevie gets it on his gps.

The Oregon Back Country Discovery Route is a 950-mile trail system
located in central and eastern Oregon. From the north, it starts out in
Walla Walla, Washington and meanders its way through central Oregon,
ending up in Cave Lake, California. The amazing, scenic route was
mapped out by the Oregon Off-Highway Vehicle Association in the early
90s with the help of the Oregon State Parks Department.

We'll be running a modified route. We'll be going through the strawberry mountains and then splitting off from the official trail and heading south down the steen mountians, through the alvord desert and then through guano lake. Should be a absolute blast! Can't wait!!!
