i am looking for your input on tires.

Last year I ran Bridgestone M404 front and M403 rear. Both seemed to hold up well and perform well. I ride mainly fire roads single track. Try to stay off of the black top. I'm looking for an intermediate terrain tire. Lots of rocks around Leavenworth. Thanks

The dunlop 606 tires are perfect for that. They are alittle spendy but worth it. I run a 606 tire up front and a kenda trackmaster2 tire in the rear. I have a 19" rear so i dont have many options. The kenda has tons of trackion and does well on the roads as well. And its 65 bucks. The 606 rear tire is a great tire i hear.

I have ran 2 sets of the 606's and they work real well. I get about 2400 miles out of a rear tire. Thats about 50/50 dirt/pavement ridding. Bigger lugs make them a little more stable on the pavement.

So I guess I'll bring up a question on tires. Anyone running the michelin T63. They appear to be a 50/50 tire, maybe a bit more off road but nicely rounded for the corners on pavement. I run michelin M12 front / S12 rear now for all off road. There are many things about running combo tires I want, but many I don't...

I run the t63 on my KLR good tire both in the dirt and on the pavement does wear kinda fast if you do alot on the pavement. i ride with my wife alot and she is kinda favors the pavement, but it worth it to have the grip in the diirt and gravel :)

It may wear like the combo I run now??? I'm use to the wear characteristics of dirt tires anyway. I put new knobs on 1 or 2 times per year as is. They get tore up fairly good at Walker, what use to be Reider, etc. On the east side of the hill they don't last long either... Mad River and surrounding.

Pirelli MT16 up font and a dunlop d606 rear work great fro me. Gonna try a MT43 rear on the 530 next. The mt43 sure works great on my 200.

after going through loads of different tires I found my favorites

Dunlop D908 Rally Raid FRONT

Dunlop D739 Desert REAR - or - Maxxis Desert IT

(or for DOT Dunlop D606)

tried the MT43, it is a good trade off tire.. but I dislike the lack of sidelugs.

I run S12 on all my dirt bikes and find the 606's to be acceptable on my CFR250X when a DOT tire is required.

I just ordered a Michelin competition trials tire for my KTM. Its a 18x4.00. I just received it and it looks a little skinny.. What size trials tires are you guys running on your EXC's?

The 18 x 4.00 does seem a lot skinnier than a big knobby but I think that may be the widest available in a trials tire. We've been running that size for years and are sold on them.

pretty much all TT are the same.. they still have a really big footprint though because they are soft and tall.

just make sure you air them down.. 5-8psi, no more unless you are riding high speed
